Critical Incident Management for Tactical Responders©

This is a two-day Scenario-Based Training (SBT) course to better integrate and familiarize frontline law enforcement officers with the Incident Command System (ICS). The audience for this course is field supervisors who may be first on scene to manage a large-scale incident. The course was developed in 2024 in cooperation with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). They have used their own custom version to train hundreds of law enforcement officers from federal, state, local, and tribal departments since its roll out.

Instructional Goal:

Provide an interactive leadership course that will enhance a law enforcement officer’s (LEO) ability, regardless of their rank, to respond to a wide variety of rapidly expanding incidents using standardized Incident Command System (ICS) terminology and principles.

Course Objectives:

  • Strengthen command, direction, and coordination efforts.
  • Explain the duties and response expectations for expanding, or rapidly emerging, crisis situations involving LEO’s as first responders.
  • Define Leader’s Intent and ensure that the students can demonstrate the use of it.
  • Identify the need to transfer command and the necessary steps to formally complete the transfer of command.
  • Demonstrate acceptable crisis leadership skills and command actions through interactive discussions and activities.

This course is Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified in the State of Nevada and we will work with your respective state LE credentialing agency to seek a similar credential so participants can receive Continuing Education (CE) credits.
